Following on from the viewing, if you accept the property, you will be invited to a pre-tenancy interview, at this interview you will be required to provide, the following: • Landlord reference(s) for all tenancies held within the last 5 years • Employment/Character reference if you have not held a tenancy in the last 5 years • 1 proof of ID for all persons aged 18+ • 1 proof of address for all persons aged 18+ (Utility bill, bank statement, benefit letter) MUST BE DATED WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS • 1 proof of National Insurance (NI) number • Birth certificates OR passport for all children aged 16 and under • Tax Credit letter OR Child Benefit letter for all children aged 16 and under • Proof of all income (Wage slips, benefit letters or bank statement) We understand some of these documents take time to gather, so we strongly advise you prepare these documents ASAP to ensure a smoother process. Otherwise delays in providing such documents, may result in you losing the offer of a property. If you are a current UC claimant, you do not need to amend your claim until you sign for your new property. If you will be a new UC claimant, you will be asked to make your UC claim in Cobalt’s office as part of your pre-tenancy interview. Please note, a formal offer of the property will not be made until all relevant checks have been satisfied by the Housing Officer. .
